The Princes of Amber

Llewella

Daughter of Oberon and Danamere

Next was Llewella, whose hair matched her jade-colored eyes, dressed in shimmering gray and green with a lavender belt, and looking moist and sad.

Neither Oberon nor his redheaded Queen Clarissa has ever been particularly easy to get along with; it was inevitable that there would be times of estrangement. Llewella is the product of one of those times, and of Oberon's affair with his counterpart in Rebma, Queen Danamere. Never truly at home upon the land, she spends most of her time in the undersea kingdom, where she has served as advisor and confidante to two reigning Queens: first her mother Danamere, and more recently her half-sister Moire.

Llewella's presence, before Random's coronation, was not a familiar one in Amber; when she did set foot within the castle, she tended to keep company with Benedict and Gerard, remaining somewhat at a distance from the politics within the family (though not as thoroughly as either of those two). Since the coronation, she has been more frequently seen. Rumor has it that she has added yet a third Queen, Vialle, to those to whom she offers her thoughts and silence.

In the mythology surrounding the royals' Trumps and the Tarot in Amber, Llewella is frequently depicted as Temperance: she stands with one foot in the water and one on land, mingling the contents of two cups, one filled with water, one with wine... or, occasionally, with blood.
