Lords of Earth and Lords of Fire

The Princes of Amber

Hecate

Daughter of Oberon and Danamere

Missing

An olive-skinned woman robed in white stands in this card, her gaze cast down and away. Her hair is dark, with faint shadings of a deep green. That color and her skin's do not entirely suit one another, leaving her rather plain in appearance overall. In one hand she bears a slim willow wand; in the other, a chalice wrought in silver and some polished, dark metal; about her throat is a pendant with the delicate symbol of an eight-pointed star.

Hecate was born from a resurgence of the affair between Oberon and Queen Danamere of Rebma, one that occurred shortly after Oberon and Clarissa's marriage was dissolved for good. Like Llewella's, Hecate's presence was never a familiar one in Amber. Unlike Llewella, she spent her time upon land primarily in the Forest of Arden. After some falling-out with Julian over one of his hunts, she quietly disappeared: not seen to depart into Shadow, nor to return to Rebma. She withdrew into her chambers in the Castle on night, and never stepped out again. It is perhaps fortunate for Julian that he was at a diplomatic reception in Arcadia that evening...

In the mythology surrounding the royals' Trumps and the Tarot in Amber, Hecate is frequently depicted as the High Priestess: seated within a temple, clad in white and blue, with a crescent-moon upon her forehead and a half-unrolled scroll held in her hands.
